I am still stunned that if you freecycle, there are people that will take just about anything! We've gotten rid of a PS I, a fugly chrome ceiling fan with tulip lights, a non-functional lawnmower, you name it. Between that and culling stuff to give to my nephew Ry's Mayfair, this whole spring cleaning thing has been *so* liberating!

Craigslist is our friend!
Craigslist has been phenomenal for getting rid of our *crap* without us having to move a muscle! We managed to find new homes for all our kitchen appliances and some other miscellaneous stuff that we had lurking in the garage in the past couple weeks, in preparation for the wood floors to be refinished.
